Publishing GIS Maps for the Masses TM Once you have a mature GIS, it is time to publish some maps. Many government entities are inundated with requests for various types of map products, ranging from hard copy to digital maps that can be used in GIS or Google Earth. This class covers a range of options for publishing high quality maps on a budget, including multi-page map books and electronic formats that can be used by non-technical viewers. You can even create maps that can be viewed on a laptop or mobile device equipped with a GPS, to see your current location on the map! GPS Mapping for Emergency ResponseTM The focus of this one day class is on the use of handheld GPS technologies for emergency management, planning and response. GPS is constantly evolving and this class showcases emerging tools and software applications for use in the Emergency Operations Center and for field damage assessment missions. Class includes a discussion of the various levels of quality in GPS, field exercises using handheld GPS for mapping of point, line and area features, GPS Photo Mapping for damage assessment and downloading the GPS field data for use in ArcGIS and Google Earth for data viewing and distribution.
